Project Graduation Results!

Posted by alphachinu on June 13, 2006

We collected 81 books for Project Graduation. However, they had an interesting journey to us.

On the Saturday morning of Commencement, May 20, the chapter had collected 30 books in the boxes under the Student Activities board in the Campus Center. By Monday morning , the books were missing!

While heartbroken that the books were missing, never to return, the chapter banded together and decided to ask the campus community to reopen their bookcases to the children of the schools affected by the flooding in York County.

The generosity of the campus is amazing! We not only collected enough books to replace the ones that were missing, we more than doubled our collection.

Thank you to the entire community of SMCC and South Portland!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Cragen
Vice President of Scholarship

1,00th hit on the way!

Posted by alphachinu on June 13, 2006

We are about to hit the 1,000 mark in number of views of the site! Yeah! This is a vital step in the life of the blog. Since being started in March 2006, we have had 991 hits. I almost feel as though the blog is turning one year old in human years when it is actually only 3 months old. Wow!

What will the one-thousandth person to view the site be like? Will she be a new member? Maybe he is an old hand in the Phi Theta Kappa world. Who knows?

Sincerely,
Jennifer Cragen

Relay for Life Results!

Posted by alphachinu on June 5, 2006

We raised over $400 to go towards cancer education and research. We had a great team including Heather Huntley, Anne-Marie Hawkes, Aimee Michaud, Jennifer Cragen, and Heather's family members.

Aimee won the box race for our team and was a great sport to carry the egg in the spoon!

Thank you to all who supported our team and to our team for doing so much walking!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Cragen
VP of Scholarship

March of Dimes Results!

Posted by alphachinu on June 5, 2006

We were very active in gathering funds for the March of Dimes, Walk America event. We had 6 registered walkers who raised over $1,000 for the babies.

The wonderful walkers include Samantha Arnold-McLaughlin, Jennifer Cragen, Anne-Marie Hawkes, Anna Patkus, Brenda Patkus, and Ben Shane.

Thank you to all who sponsored our walkers by donating money! And, thank you to the walkers for getting blisters and enjoying the sun!

 Sincerely,
Jennifer Cragen
